Even Murder Is Okay... As Long As Nobody Gets Hurt
In this engaging spoof of the film noir genre, Los Angeles-based private eye Leslie Tucker (Michael Caine) is hired by a wealthy man named Anglich to locate his long-lost daughter. Tucker's sleuthing adventures lead him to various encounters with a dizzying array of eccentric and sometimes dangerous characters, but none of them lead him to the missing woman... until he comes across the strange Prendergast family. Tucker concludes that one of two women (Natalie Wood and Kitty Winn) living with the eccentric Prendergasts might well be Anglich's daughter. But which one? The resolution of the mystery makes for a thunderously entertaining film filled with odd occurrences, amusing twists... and just a dash of terror.
