Dr. Ravic (Hopkins) is a brilliant German surgeon who flees to Paris in an effort to escape the growing power of the Nazis. There, he meets Joan Madou (Lesley-Anne Down, Dallas), a depressed, unemployed cabaret singer who is on the bring of ending it all. After saving her, the two embark on a passionate romance with mystery lurking just under the surface. Both are hiding secrets from each other that build this tense drama to its explosive conclusion.
